Touch is more than a sport.

It is connecting communities, building whānau, and strengthening Aotearoa.

Touch is the fastest-growing sport in Aotearoa.

With more than 150,000 participants spanning generations - tamariki, rangatahi, parents, whānau groups, social teams, competitive athletes, and community volunteers. It’s one of the most accessible and inclusive sports in the country - played in schools, workplaces, clubs, community parks, whānau gatherings, and all the way through to elite international arenas. Wherever New Zealanders gather, touch is there.

Touch NZ has a footprint in every region, from major urban centres to rural heartland communities with 20 Provincial Associations across four regions, and more than 200 local touch competitions

As a registered incorporated society and proud Charities Commission member, our national office is based in Auckland, but our true presence is felt nationwide.

We rely on the support and vital contributions of partners and funders to help us to bring communities together, strengthen whānau connections, and grow participation in the game.

Why we're here

At the heart of Touch NZ is our purpose: fun, friends and family.

Our approach is proudly whānau-centric, placing community, cultural identity, and collective wellbeing at the centre of everything we do.

Touch isn’t just something you play - it’s something you live which provides a platform for connection, confidence, belonging, and opportunity.

Through tournaments with high-participation and a wide range of Touch NZ programmes, we create inclusive pathways for everyone to engage with the sport.

We use the power of touch to generate positive ripple effects that extend far beyond the field - supporting the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of players, coaches, referees, officials, supporters, tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau.

Our strategy

Our strategy is built on enduring respect for the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a deep commitment to Te Ao Māori. These are not just acknowledgements - they’re the foundations of our identity and vision.

We're working towards a future where Touch NZ is a driver of wellbeing across Aotearoa.
